Denton, Texas -- The Center for Women Entrepreneurs at Texas Woman’s University will begin accepting applications for its Texas Rural Woman Grant on May 20, 2025.

This is the third year for the grant program, which aims to support women-owned businesses in rural Texas communities. Ten grants of $10,000 each — totaling $100,000 — will be awarded to selected applicants whose businesses have been established for at least three years.

A completed online application must be submitted by 5 p.m. on June 20, 2025. Rural eligibility is determined based on the U.S. Census and the Office of Management & Budget data, specifically for counties with populations of 50,000 or fewer. Applicants should refer to the list of qualifying Texas counties to confirm rural eligibility.

Rural grant funds may be used for various business-related expenses, including purchasing equipment, farm implements, fencing, or technology; acquiring inventory or raw materials; property improvements; or other business development activities that align with the program’s purpose. Grant funds may not be used for wages, salaries or sales tax.

In addition to funding, awardees will receive support through a virtual training course covering financial growth, business development and marketing. They will also meet with a CWE small-business advisor to help maximize the impact of their grant and create a three-year cash flow showing how the grant funding will grow their sales.

“We recognize the unique challenges rural women entrepreneurs face, especially when it comes to accessing capital and training,” said Tracy Irby, director of the Center for Women Entrepreneurs. “This grant is more than just funding — it provides the tools and support to help rural business owners grow stronger roots and reach new heights.”
