Dear Bonham Community,

As I wrap up my tenure as your Council Member for Ward 2, I want to express my sincere gratitude to each of you for your trust, support, and collaboration over the last six years. It has truly been an honor to represent Ward 2 and work with such passionate individuals dedicated to improving Bonham for everyone. Together, we’ve navigated challenges, celebrated achievements, and made significant strides on the key issues that matter to our community. Since I took office in May 2019, I set out a set of goals—and I am proud to say that I have accomplished each one. I have remained committed to transparency and open communication with our citizens throughout my terms. My aim has always been to listen and help find solutions to the concerns of our residents.

During my time on the council, I was honored to contribute to initiatives that fostered our city’s growth, enhanced street repairs and infrastructure maintenance, increased employment opportunities, revitalized our historic downtown, and improved public safety, among other achievements. We also championed much-deserved salary increases for our dedicated city staff and enhanced our communication with residents through a redesigned website, an updated marketing plan, and a stronger social media presence. In addition to my council responsibilities, I had the privilege of representing Fannin County on the TCOG Community Services Advisory Committee, where I supported an anti-poverty initiative aimed at developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for low-income communities across the Texoma region, including Cooke, Fannin, and Grayson Counties. I also served as Event Lead for Fannin County's Relay For Life and participated in various local committees focused on community development.

These accomplishments would not have been possible without the incredible team I had the pleasure of working alongside. I want to extend a special thank you to Mayor Roy Floyd, Mayor H.L. Compton, City Manager Sean Pate, and all the current and former City Council members with whom I collaborated. Our progress was a team effort, and it was never just about my role or my votes; it required all of us working together to create a vibrant environment in Bonham. Above all, I want to express my deep appreciation to my wife, Shaterra, and my three daughters, Teagan, Tailyn, and Tenley, for their unwavering support throughout this journey. Their patience, love, and encouragement have meant the world to me. Bonham is on an upward trajectory, and I am proud to have contributed, even in a small way, to its progress. Although my term is concluding, my commitment to our city remains steadfast, and I look forward to being involved in new capacities in the years to come.

With heartfelt appreciation,
Council Member Timothy La Vergne, II, Ward 2
