Professor Emeritus Diana Mason received her B.A. in zoology in 1974 from the University of Texas at Austin and her Master of Science in Zoology in 1978 from Texas A&M University - Commerce. Following 10 years of teaching high school chemistry and mathematics at Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas, she returned to The University of Texas at Austin and received her Ph.D. in Science Education with an emphasis in chemistry in 1994. She taught chemistry for another 23 years at the college and university levels until her retirement from University of North Texas in 2012.
She is an Honorary Daughter of John Berry Daughters of the Republic of Texas Chapter (William B. Travis’ sister married her great, great grandfather), and in 2016, she was commissioned by Governor Abbott as an Admiral in the Texas Navy.
