Telephone, Texas -- On May 22, 2025, our precious Sarah Jan Phillips, born on November 6, 1952, was called home to be with Jesus.
She was preceded by her mother and father, Lottie Mozelle and James Worth Garrett, and her two brothers, William Worth Garrett and Eddie Fern Garrett.
She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, George Alan Phillips, her son George Brian Phillips, and her daughter, Erin Alane Phillips.
Sarah Jan grew up in the communities of Meridian and Asher, Oklahoma. The early memories she made there with her beloved grandparents, Mary and W.V. Garrett, immediate family, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins served as a source of strength, comfort, and happiness throughout her life.
After her father’s passing while she was in high school, she moved with her mother and brothers to Bonham, Texas. It was there that she soon met and married the love of her life, Alan Phillips. They raised their children northeast of Bonham in the Telephone, Texas community before relocating to Denison, Texas in later years.
Sarah Jan was known for her beautiful smile, heartfelt prayers, kindness, and funny stories. Her 42-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis took a backseat to her unwavering faith, steadfast optimism, bravery, and her genuine love and concern for others. She was an incredible encourager and champion for her family and anyone in need.
As her family, we are so honored to have been a part of her life. She would want us to thank Dr. Bradley Rue for his many years of compassionate and expert care. She would also want us to thank the aides, techs, and nurses that became a part of her life along the way. You enriched her days with your friendship and your care inspired us all.
Funeral services will be announced at a later time. We rejoice in knowing she is with Jesus in her heavenly home.
