The Texas Great Debate offers a unique platform for young scholars to engage in rigorous debates, develop their public speaking skills, and collaborate with peers to vie for the coveted silver cup. A team representing the newly formed chapter in Monterrey, Mexico, will join established cities and regions, including Austin, Brownsville, Dallas/Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston, the Rio Grande Valley, and San Antonio.
“We’re excited to be working with Austin College again to set the stage for this latest edition of the Texas Great Debate,” said Nicole Nieto, Executive Vice President of NHI. “This program brings students together to build ideas for the future, while helping them develop the public speaking and communication skills that raise their value as leaders.”

About the Texas Great Debate
The Texas Great Debate has a long-standing tradition of partnering with prominent universities to provide a stimulating environment for young minds. As part of NHI's College Register, these institutions often participate in NHI college fairs and admission workshops, offering students direct communication with college representatives. Austin College, a long-time supporter of NHI, will host this year's event, reinforcing the importance of higher education in the lives of young scholars.

About Austin College
Austin College, a private national liberal arts college located north of Dallas in Sherman, Texas, has earned a reputation for excellence in academic preparation, pre-professional foundations, committed faculty, and hands-on, adventurous learning opportunities. One of 44 schools profiled in Loren Pope’s influential book Colleges That Change Lives, Austin College boasts a welcoming community that embraces diversity and individuality, with more than 50 percent of students identifying as persons of color. The residential student body of approximately 1,300 students and an expert faculty of more than 100 educators allow a 11:1 student-faculty ratio and personalized attention. Related by covenant to the Presbyterian Church (USA), Austin College cultivates an inclusive atmosphere that supports students’ faith journeys regardless of religious tradition. The College, founded in 1849, is the oldest institution of higher education in Texas operating under original name and charter.
