Sherman, Texas – No Kings is a nationwide day of action and defiance. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, citizens are taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like.

On June 14, Flag Day, and the 250th anniversary for the Army, Donald Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday.

“Our country has been a democracy since its birth. The flag doesn’t belong to Donald Trump. It belongs to the people. On June 14, we’re showing up everywhere to say no oligarch, no billionaire dictators, no kings,” responded organizer Barbara Rush.

No Kings is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to what some see as the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration. They are limiting free speech, detaining people for their political positions, disappearing people off the streets, attacking our civil rights, deporting people without due process, defying the courts, and slashing public services. They’re doing all this while serving and enriching themselves and their billionaire allies.

“Defying the Constitution and the rule of law is not acceptable," stated Rushing. "This is what we are protesting - whether you're outraged by attacks on civil rights, increasing costs, abductions and disappearances, the cutting of essential services, or the assault on free speech. In America, we defend democracy!”

Sponsored by over 20 national advocacy groups, from Indivisible to Common Cause.
