Karen was born in Maryville, TN on August 13, 1952. Her family moved to Dallas, TX when she was young. She was a classical pianist and enjoyed spending time with people. In fact, she was somewhat of a social butterfly. In December of 1973 she was victim of a terrible accident in California that almost took her life. She suffered a traumatic brain injury and remained in a coma for an extended period. Her recovery was filled with courage and determination as she relearned many of life’s basics.
She was always interested in making new friends and many were fiercely loyal over decades. Among her friends were some well-known artists and musicians.
She and Jimmy Arl Brashers were married on September 9, 1995. He faithfully loved and cared for her until his passing. She was also preceded in death by her father, Lester Lee Reece and her mother, Molly Anne (Torrey) Reece, her mother-in- law, Peggy Jo (Patterson) Brashers, and her beloved nephew, John Cameron Reece.
She is survived by her brother, Ricky Lee Reece, her sister-in-law, Sharon Patricia (Gerbig) Reece, niece, Krista Joy (Reece) Aguilar Lee, nephew, David Lee Reece and great nephew, Kolton Kevin Aguilar. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Arledge Brashers and brother-in-law, David Brashers.
Interment took place at White Rock Cemetery in Bonham, Texas.
Karen's life was not easy but was one of perseverance and a quiet strength that touched all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
