City of Bonham assessing damage after severe weather event

Bonham, Texas -- The City of Bonham, TX is partnering with local, county and state agencies to assess damage after a severe weather event on Sunday, June 8, 2025. At 9:55 p.m. (6.8.25) the City of Bonham activated the outdoor warning system based on National Weather Service reports and emergency management utilized social media and phone notification systems to advise citizens of the impending weather.

As of 4:30 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2025 there have been no reports of serious injuries. There is significant storm damage to trees, homes and businesses. There are downed power lines, downed trees and debris throughout the city. Crews are currently working on clearing debris from streets and putting up roadblocks and temporary stop signs. Oncor is currently working on restoring power. There is no estimated time as to when power will be restored.

Traffic on Center Street was blocked while workers cleared downed power lines and poles.

The City of Bonham Office of Emergency Management is advising people to STAY HOME and off of the roads today to allow emergency crews to clear debris. Please DO NOT remove debris until crews have assessed the damage and checked for downed power lines in the debris. Downed power lines are a very large concern to citizen safety at this time. Please continue to exercise caution and avoid downed power lines or flooded areas. Updates on the recovery process and available resources will be provided shortly on the city's website and social media channels.
