CITY OF BONHAM, TEXAS

DECLARATION OF LOCAL DISASTER EXTENSION TO JULY 16TH, 2025

 

WHEREAS, on June 10th, 2025, the Mayor of the City of Bonham, H.L. Compton, declared a local state of disaster related to the June 8th, 2025 storm and tornado; and

WHEREAS, the conditions necessitating for such declaration continue to exist; and

WHEREAS, §418.108(b) of the Texas Government Code provides that a local state of disaster may not be continued for a period in excess of seven days without the consent of the governing body of the political subdivision;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BONHAM, TEXAS:

1.      This Declaration continuing a local state of disaster shall be effective for thirty (30) days on and from its date of issuance, provided however that this declaration may be terminated before the expiration of thirty days by subsequent order of the Mayor, and may be continued or renewed beyond thirty days from its date of issuance only with the consent of the City Council of the City of Bonham, Texas.

2.      Pursuant to Texas Government Code §418.108(c), this resolution is being issued in accordance with the City of Bonham’s Emergency Action Plan.

3.      This Declaration shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the City Secretary of the City of Bonham; and

4.      This Declaration shall take effect immediately from and after its issuance.
