Bonham, Texas -- Alvin Dan Foster, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 following a long battle with Alzheimers.

Dan was born on October 8, 1939 in Alhambra, California. He was the oldest of two children born to Vernon and Grace Foster. As a child, Dan loved horseback riding and swimming in the Pacific ocean with his family.

Dan was in the US Navy, stationed on the aircraft carrier, the USS Ranger for two years. Afterwards, he returned to California where he met the love of his life, Esta Jeanine Hine. They were married 63 years.

Dan had a successful career at Teledyne Wah Chang in Albany, Oregon for 34 years.  He was an active member of North Albany Baptist Church mentoring many young men and encouraging their faith in Jesus.

In February 2010, Dan and Esta moved to Bonham to be closer to their sons and family. When in Texas, he was able to play an active role in the lives of his grandchildren: attending many sporting events and graduations.

Dan is survived by his wife, Esta, his brother, Richard, his son Victor and wife Sarah, his son Charles and wife Tracy, five grandchildren: Nick (& Hanna) Foster, Clay Foster, Allison Foster, Savannah Foster, Olivia (& Christian) Smith, and four great grandchildren: Audrey, Everly, Nina, and Charlie. His immediate family, extended family members, and many friends mourn his loss.

There will be a Celebration of Life 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Bonham. Everyone is welcome to attend and encouraged to wear bright colors.
