FAIR. Water stained; 87 degrees; 0.04 feet above pool. The overall bite has slowed down this week. Bass are fair at night feeding under lights and active at day break. Crappie slow to fair between 15-25 feet deep on any structure above the thermocline. Catfish are good, actively roaming points and humps. Flyfishing for bass should produce bass with Dock knockers and small clousers around retaining walls. Look for midday shade near boat houses. Topwater patterns in lilies should be good at mid and late day. Catfish are shallow, wooly buggers should work well. Clousers on sunny rocky shores might draw a strike. Caddo
SLOW. Water stained; 85 degrees; 1.00 feet above pool. Bass schooling activity has started to improve, as well as the topwater frog bite around the lily pads. Listening for the popping noise to find the fish. You can catch the bass chasing shad on flukes, worms, pop r¡¯s, ploppers, buzz baits and small swimbaits. The river has cleaned cleared and the current slowed. down some the bass will be schooling and can be caught on Texas rig worms and drop shots plus top water. Conroe
GREAT. Water stained; 86 degrees; 0.07 feet above pool. Most of the catfish have finished spawning and are moving into summer patterns. Expect lots of tiny fish mixed with good eater sized and some occasional trophies. Largemouth bass have been good on offshore structures and docks as well as schooling on shad in up to 30 feet of water. Crappie have been poor overall with minimal numbers being caught. Bluegill are on fire. Fish love hot water and can be caught deep, shallow and anywhere in between. Docks and brushpiles are a good place to start. Report by Bradley Doyle, Bradley¡¯s Guide Service. Hybrids are active on flats and drop-offs in 12-32 feet, hitting slabs, spoons, and live bait. Finding a thermocline in 46 feet and the thermocline sitting at 32.5 feet. Fork
GOOD. Water Stained; 82 degrees; 0.23 feet above pool. Fork : Top waters early around pond weed and grass with frogs and poppers still working. Mid morning chatter baits on the outside edge of grass in 3-5 ft is good as well as shaky heads . Best bite is Carolina rigs off shore on points , road beds and humps in 12-25 ft . Big worms and flukes are good . Deep Cranks are good over the same area when the fish are suspending 19-23 ft . Report by Marc Mitchell, Lake Fork Guide Service. Lily fields are filling in, hydrilla and milfoil are reaching for the surface. Fish this type of cover at mid day when bass are seeking cover. Frog patterns are working in the shallow vegetation early and late. Small fish patterns like a dock knocker are producing bass and crappie shallow near grass. Lake Fork crappie fishing has been super up and down this past week. The fish are stacked up on brush piles, lay downs, tire reefs and some trees. The bite is the tricky part. Some days the bite is good and the bigger fish show up. Some days the bite is just off and the short fish show up. Seems like the bite may be better on days we have a little breeze. If the winds are calm the bite is very slow. Minnows will get some bites but small 1/32nd ounce hand tied jigs with small bodies and tails are working well on fish that don¡¯t want to bite. Houston County
FAIR. Water stained; 86 degrees; 0.16 feet above pool. Bass are on deeper brush and shaded docks with soft plastics. Crappie are on deep brush biting minnows and jigs.
Lake O' the Pines
GOOD. Water normal stain; 90 degrees; 2.64 feet above pool. Bass are good on crankbaits in 10-15 feet of water with Carolina rigs or white flukes. Football jigs are still drawing bigger bites as the sun gets higher in the sky. The bite is slow midday, but early morning and late evening have been the best for numbers. Crappie are holding in isolated brush piles and laydowns in 12-14 feet of water with slip cork minnows, or ¨û ounce jigs pink head with white chartreuse minnow will work if using live scope. Channel catfish are holding around the same cover as the crappie just closer to the bottom. Report by Brian Vickery Fishing.
Livingston
GOOD. normal stain; 85 degrees; 0.00 feet above pool. White bass are great in 6-15 feet of water on wind blown points and ledges with white and chartreuse slabs. Catfish are in 1-4 feet of water on bulkheads with best action at daylight. Report by Michael Richardson, Lake Livingston Adventures.
Martin Creek
GOOD. Water slightly stained; 92 degrees; 0.14 feet below pool. Bass are good early morning and late afternoon. With weather heating up and higher water temperatures make an uncomfortable day. Night fishing is best. Fishing the outside edge of the hydrilla with Texas rigged worms remains good. Brush piles in 25-30 feet are also good on big worms and deep crankbaits. Crappie are fair to good suspended in brush and standing timber in 25-30 feet. Minnows are the best bait. Catfish are good where the bottom depth is just above the thermocline. That depth varies depending on power plant running. This also affects bass and crappie.
Nacogdoches
GOOD. Water stained; 87 degrees; 0.31 feet above pool. Water has cooled after the recent rain. Largemouth bass are excellent in 15-20 feet of water on deep diving crankbaits and Carolina rigged with large creature baits. Crappie are excellent for numbers on deep brush piles, and for size on standing timber in the center of the lake north of the powerlines. Catfish are fair with live minnows and cut bait. Naconiche
GOOD. Water slightly stained; 88 degrees; 0.50 feet above pool. The summer pattern is official, so anticipate a consistent bite. Jump out early and late, but if you can stand the heat you might get rewarded.
Pinkston
GOOD. normal stain; 85 degrees. Largemouth bass are excellent big swimbaits and dropshots schooling in the center of the lake. Crappie are good with white crappie jigs in large brush piles. Catfish are good with live minnows. Report by Cal Cameron, Cal¡¯s ETX Guide Service.
Raven
SLOW. Water slight stain; 90 degrees. Lake Raven water clarity is slightly stained. The lake is seeing hydrilla die back due to recent herbicide treatment. Largemouth bass are good on weedless rigged artificial worms in red-tinted colors with glitter. Anglers should target the cove where the boathouse is located. This area has seen recent success when working the hydrilla grass line. No reports of crappie or catfish in recent weeks. Bluegill are good off of the boathouse dock on hotdogs and worms under a bobber.
Sam Rayburn
GOOD. Water stained; 86 degrees; 1.54 feet below pool. Freshwater is still entering the lake from the river, and water is being released. Topwater bass bite is early in the morning and evening. Bass are deeper on points, drains and humps with crankbaits and Carolina rigs. Crappie are good on brush piles, but many undersized fish and bluegill to sift through. Catfish are good in 18-20 feet of water on cut bait. A few white bass are schooling on main lake points. Cast baits to shade. Report by Captain Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service.
Toledo Bend
GOOD. Water stained; 90 degrees; 0.75 feet below pool. It is just the dead of summer time fishing here on Toledo Bend. Bass fishing is tough with a few bites at daylight on topwater and swim jigs. The best bite is coming at night on buzzbaits and spinnerbaits along the edge of bank grass, then Texas rig worms and football jigs on main lake points in 12-18 feet. The bite should improve with the coming full moon. Crappie are hit-and-miss on main lake docks and brush piles. Report by Stephen Johnston, Johnston Fishing.
Tyler
GOOD. Water normal stain; 80 degrees; 0.02 feet above pool. Crappie are good on brush piles with minnows and jigs in 12-16 feet of water. Catfish are good in 10 feet of water with liver and nightcrawlers. Bass are good in 6-7 feet of water on grass and shaded structure with soft plastics. Bream are good on red worms throughout the lake. Report by The Boulders at Lake Tyler. Water is a normal stain, but expect the clarity to be stained after the forecasted rain. Crappie have been in two main patterns with most fish 20 feet deep, but there is a good number of fish in 8-12 feet of water on brush piles. Minnows are outperforming jigs. Bass are great at dawn and dusk on topwater, but this bite shuts off very quickly. Transition to Texas rigs, crankbaits or jerkbaits in 4-15 feet. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and prepared bait. Wright Patman
