Back to school!

Whitewright, Texas -- It is that time of year again when the students go back to school after summer vacation where they will once again study science, math, history and literature. But, in addition to classroom studies, there are also other things that are available for them to participate in that are out of the classroom. Those things being the team and individual sports that are provided by the school system. Baseball, soccer, tennis, basketball, gymnastics, swimming and football to name a few. This is good for the development of their bodies to make them strong. It also gives them a break from the classroom environment where they can concentrate on something else.

But, there are a number of students that do not take part in either the team or individual sports and the reasons are varied. They just might not like these sports or maybe some feel that they do not have the skills to participate. Here in Whitewright there is another option that they or any other student or adult might take.

The Whitewright Martial Arts Center is offering a back to school special for both students and adults. The Martial Arts Center trains students and adults in traditional Korean TaeKwonDo and Chinese Tai Chi. Traditional TaeKwonDo is good for fitness, discipline, focus, self-defense and coordination. The Tai Chi classes teach and help improve balance, focus, relaxation, self-defense and has been shown, by first hand account, to help improve bone density. The TaeKwonDo classes are on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6PM and 7:10PM where the Tai Chi classes are on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 2PM. The back to school special is this: For anyone signing up for TaeKwonDo and prepays for three months get a free uniform. Those signing up for Tai Chi and prepays for three months get a large discount for their fourth month. This will give those students and adults who might not yet participate in any exercise or sports program be able to get started and be there long enough to actually see the benefits of such programs.
