and keynote speakers Aug. 23-24
McKinney, Texas – The McKinney Public Library System invites book lovers and aspiring writers to the McKinney Literary Fest, a two-day event celebrating local voices in literature, art, and publishing. This year's festival will take place Aug. 23–24 at McKinney City Hall, 401 E. Virginia St.
The festival will feature more than 40 local authors and illustrators, offering attendees a chance to meet creators and engage in literary conversations designed to inspire and educate readers and writers of all ages.
Saturday's keynote speaker, George Getschow, is a Pulitzer Prize jurist, author of Pastures of the Empty Page, and former reporter for The Wall Street Journal.
Getschow brings decades of experience in narrative nonfiction and investigative journalism and will share reflections on the power of true storytelling.
Sunday's keynote speaker, Lyndsey Lewellen, is the author of two young adult sci-fi novels, The Chaos Grid and The Crier Stone, and an upcoming middle-grade steampunk adventure. Her talk shares insights into genre storytelling and writing for young audiences.
"The McKinney Literary Fest is about creating a community where readers and writers connect, grow, and celebrate the art of storytelling," said Spencer Smith, Director of the McKinney Public Library System. "We're excited to make literature even more accessible and central to our city's cultural life."
