Leonard, Texas -- The Leonard Lady Tigers improved to 13-2 on the season with a three-set win over the Trenton Lady Tigers Tuesday night. Leonard has moved up to the No. 9 slot in the latest Class 3A polls.

In the opener against Trenton, Leonard jumped out to a 5-0 lead and coasted to a 25-11 win.

It was Trenton with a 1-0 lead in the second set and Trenton was up, 6-5, before Leonard put together a 7-0 run to take control and went on to post a 25-13.

Trenton had an early 3-2  lead in the third set, but a 5-0 run gave Leonard an 8-3 advantage. Leonard pulled away to post a 25-14 victory for a sweep.

All the Leonard hitters got in on the action. Bella Neaville and Leah Stoy led the way with six kills apiece, Madison Jones and Caroline Holton each finished with five kills, Ashlynn Cavendar and Riley Brown both put down four kills, Ava Flowers knocked down a pair of kills and Emma Houser had one kill.

Flowers slipped a team-high five aces through the Trenton defense and dished out 30 assists.

Olivia Aylor came up with a team-high five digs and Houser was close behind with four digs, while Brooke Hancock contributed three aces.

The Leonard Lady Tigers will take a short ride down Hwy. 11 on Thursday, August 28 to compete in the Tom Bean Volleyball Tournament.

Leonard will host TCA Paris on Friday, August 29 and then head back to Tom Bean on Saturday for bracket competition in the Tom Bean Volleyball Tournament.
