Durant, Okla. – The theatre department of Southeastern Oklahoma State University will open its Fall 2025 season with playwright A.R. Gurney’s warm-hearted play, What I Did Last Summer. The play will be performed at Montgomery Auditorium on September 25, 26, and 27, with all performances beginning at 7 p.m.

Set in a wealthy vacation colony on the shores of Lake Erie during the final stages of World War II, What I Did Last Summer tells the story of Charlie Higgins. With his father fighting overseas, Charlie is staying with his mother and sister before heading off to an expensive boarding school.

William Pope plays Charlie Higgins.

His plans take a dramatic turn when he takes a job as a handyman for the local eccentric, Anna Trumbul, a bohemian artist who challenges Charlie’s conservative upbringing. As Anna teaches Charlie about art and life, she inspires him to question his family’s expectations, leading to a clash of philosophies and a summer that will change his life forever.
