Myers will leverage regional economic development expertise to lead Bonham’s pro-growth strategy
Bonham, Texas -- – The Bonham Economic Development Corporation (BEDCO) has appointed William Myers as its new executive director. With more than two decades of industry experience, Myers will lead and oversee all economic development efforts for the rapidly expanding city of Bonham. Located at the intersection of State Highway 121 and U.S. Route 82 near Grayson County’s rising tech hub, and offering affordability and an outstanding quality of life with its historic downtown and nearby Lake Bonham and Bois d’Arc Lake, Bonham is strongly positioned to serve as the next ideal community for North and Northeast Texas’ growing workforce.

Throughout his career, Myers has led a range of impactful economic development efforts across North Texas. He helped create Bridgeport’s 1,200-acre Endeavor Bridgeport industrial and recreational park, led the establishment of a maintenance tax and campus site for Weatherford College in Wise County and initiated Gainesville’s first Downtown and Parks and Recreation master plans. In Denison, he launched award-winning entrepreneurship and destination development programs and helped double upper-floor housing in its downtown district. He also created the first two Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones (TIRZ) in Bridgeport and Wise County and has recruited numerous development projects across the region.

In his most recent role, Myers served as the executive director for the Gainesville Economic Development Corporation, where he led industrial and commercial recruitment, strategic planning, fiscal management and redevelopment initiatives. Prior to that, he worked as vice president of business development for the Denison Development Alliance & Foundation and as executive director for the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation.
Myers holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from Texas Tech University. He also completed the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute (EDI) program and the Texas A&M University Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC). He is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) and an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC), where he has served in various board positions. Myers currently serves on the board of directors for Team Texas, a member-based statewide economic development program created through the TEDC, and is the incoming chair for the 2025-2026 term.
