Sherman, Texas -- Glenn Ray Dube, 71, of Sherman, Texas, passed away suddenly on October 13, 2025 at Sherman Medical Center.
Glenn was born at Perrin Air Force Base on September 20, 1954, to Alfred Victor Dube and Alta Gene Young Dube. He was a lifelong resident and supporter of Sherman and graduated from Sherman High School, class of 1973. While in high school, he started working at Gibson’s Discount Center. It was there that he met his future wife, Gloria Jean Rivard. They were married May 29, 1976 at Grace Lutheran Church in Denison.
Glenn was recognized on multiple occasions for his dedication and service. After working at Gibsons for several years, he went to work at Piggly Wiggly. One day while working there, he chased down and detained a purse thief until police arrived. For his act of heroism, he was awarded a key to the City of Sherman in February of 1981. When Mastic opened its doors in Denison, Glenn was the 12th employee hired. This factory later became known as Alcoa. He was one of the last to leave when the plant was shut down 23 years later. The city of Denison proclaimed November 8, 2005 as Glenn Dube Day in recognition of his 20 years of perfect attendance at Alcoa.
He then went on to work for the City of Sherman until his retirement in March of 2021. After retiring, Glenn enjoyed traveling with his wife and some close friends. They cruised to Alaska, flew to London and France, and most recently visited Yellowstone.
Baseball was his favorite sport which he started playing at a young age. In 1970 his Texoma National Bank team was League, Tournament, and AABC District Champs with 28 wins and only 4 losses. He continued this love of baseball by watching his grandkids play baseball and softball. He enjoyed taking videos and pictures of them and was one of their biggest fans.
Glenn was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was an elder for many years. While serving, he made it a point to get to know all the members and made himself available to help anyone when needed. He enjoyed having fun with the youth.
Glenn was always helping at church with the landscaping, the cross display, maintenance, and many other projects.
Reliable, dedicated and loyal are a few words that others have used to describe Glenn’s character. He was an amazing role model and loved by many. He had a servant's heart and loved the Lord. He believed in building relationships and never met a stranger.
Glenn was a loving husband, father, and “Pops.” While learning the importance of hard work from his parents at a young age, he developed a love of mowing. He picked up this love again in later years by creating his own lawn-care business while working his full-time jobs. He continued this service to others for many years, up until his passing. He considered all of his mowing clients as family and built close relationships with many.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters Jeana Parsons (Michael) of Achille, OK, and Stacy Bray (Blake) of Sherman; grandchildren Brett Parsons, Azaria Dube, Katy Parsons, Zayden Bray, Luke Parsons, Levi Parsons, Izaiah Bray and his sister Vickie (Ed) Seames. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Gene Dube, and his brother Don Dube.
