On behalf of the Bonham Economic Development Corporation (BEDCO), we are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Bonham Mayor Roy V. Floyd.
Mayor Floyd was the Mayor of Bonham for 22 years and served in other local governmental roles with over 40 years of service to the Bonham community.
Economic Development and making Bonham better for its citizens and businesses were near and dear to Roy’s heart. He actively sought out and recruited businesses to
Bonham and was a leader of economic development through his leadership of the Bonham Industrial Foundation (BIF), formed in 1955, and then his strong support of BEDCO when the State of Texas enabled 4B sales tax-funded economic entities to be formed.
This past summer, when Roy’s health was declining, he and his wife, Lynda, worked with the BIF Board, which agreed to wind down operations, conveying the remaining industrial park real estate and funds to BEDCO to carry on the work of Roy and the BIF Board had started so many years ago.
I know our BEDCO Board is deeply honored to carry out the mission of BIF using the land and funds that were transferred to create jobs and benefit the local economy. Personally, I credit Roy with getting me engaged in BEDCO, which has been a rewarding way to grow Bonham, improve the quality of life, and give back to the community.
Roy had a way of always getting stakeholders to the
table to talk and work out a solution that would benefit all. This showed his heart for the people of Bonham and Fannin County. BEDCO is honored to stand on his shoulders and to carry on the important economic development work that Roy loved so much.

Our prayers are with his wife, Lynda, his children, and his grandchildren. May God bless them in this time of grief and remembrance of the wonderful life of their beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Roy V. Floyd. His legacy will be lasting in the positive impacts he made in the Bonham community he loved so dearly.
Alan McDonald
BEDCO Board President
