Fannin County, Texas -- The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials have announced an upcoming project scheduled for Fannin County.

A.K. Gillis & Sons, LLC of Sulphur Springs, Texas, has been awarded a $5,445,359.04 contract to rehabilitate and widen existing roadways:

Business 121D from SH 121 to SH 121

SS 311 from SH 56 to SH 121

FM 1743 from End of State Maintenance to US 82

Barricades will be set on Dec. 17, 2025. Construction is scheduled to begin Jan. 5, 2026, weather permitting, with an estimated project completion in March 2027.

During this period, temporary road closures will be in effect. TxDOT urges drivers to exercise caution. Motorists who travel frequently in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls, and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems. TxDOT also asks drivers to remain alert to road crews while navigating through the construction zone.
