Honey Grove, Texas -- James Marvin Nichols passed away at the age of 77 on December 20, 2025, in Honey Grove, Texas. Born on September 22, 1948, in Bonham, Texas.
James's life was one marked by joy and much laughter. James was known for his quick wit and his ability to find humor in every situation, traits that endeared him to everyone he met.
After marrying the love of his life, Marita, who preceded him in death, James built a life in Honey Grove that was rich in love and family. Together, they raised their son, Jess. His family continued to be a source of immense pride and joy for James.
James leaves behind his son, Jess Nichols with wife Roxanne, and Grand-daughter, Abigail Cardenas. He also leaves behind one brother, Tommy Nichols and wife Kay, and daughter Cassie as well as many other nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.
We want to give a special thank you to the people who helped his son and wife take care of James: Jana Whitlock, Dulcie Evans, Bonnie Watson, and Elizabeth Weber. As well as Waterford Hospice and his Nurse Morgan Mendez.
James's legacy is one that will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him. As we bid farewell to James Marvin Nichols, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, laughter, and a profound kindness that touched the hearts of many. James's memory will continue to live on through the countless stories and cherished moments shared by those who loved him. Although he has left this earthly realm, the impact of his warm spirit will remain forever.
We take solace in the knowledge that James is now reunited with his beloved Marita and that his legacy of love and laughter will continue to resonate through the generations. He will be deeply missed, but the light he brought into this world will never fade.
Funeral services for James will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Honey Grove, with Pastor DJ Harris officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday evening, December 22, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be; Keith Daniels, Jason Hanson, Chris Brooks, Jeremy Brooks, Mark Stallings, and Josh Clark.
