Dodd City Lady Hornets 52, Pilot Point 25

Gainesville, Texas -- In the first round of the Annual North Central Texas College Basketball Tournament, the Dodd City Lady Hornets cruised by Class 3A Pilot Point for a 27-point victory.

Dodd City sophomore Gracyn Shindler hit four baskets in the first period to help the Lady Hornets take a 16-4 lead into the second period. Shindler continued her hot streak by knocking down nine points in the second quarter as Dodd City built a 33-7 lead at halftime.

A 14-5 run in the third period gave Dodd City a commanding 47-12 cushion going into the final frame.  The Lady Hornets went on to put an impressive 52-25 win in the books.

Gracyn Shindler led all scorers with 19 points and Addison Weeks was also in double figures with 15 points.

Kennedy Chaney put up six points, Kayleigh McBrayer and Kodi Dorau both finished with five points and Kendyl Lindsey tossed in two points.

Weeks was the top rebounder with seven boards, followed by Lindsey (6), Shindler (4), McBrayer (3), Dorau (3), Chaney (1), Makayla Camp (1), Caroline Lackey (1) and Carla Medina (1).

Weeks also had a team-high 4 assists.

Shindler led Dodd City in steals (6) and deflections (7).

The Lady Hornets will take on Valley View at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday as tournament action continues.
