Ballot finalized for March 3 Fannin County Republican Primary

Fannin County, Texas -- Fannin County voters will have a major say in their own destiny when they go to the polls  for the primary election March 3, 2026, because the offices of county judge, Pct. 2 commissioner, Pct. 4 commissioner, Pct. 2 JP and county treasurer are all up for grabs.

Five candidates are vying for county judge and a drawing was held, December 17, 2026 to determine the order in which names will appear on the ballot. County judge candidates' names will be listed in the following order:

John Tynan
H. Compton
Newt Cunningham
Bill Carey
Jim Simpson

Two candidates have filed to run for Pct. 2 commissioner. Their names will be listed in this order:

Brandon Wallace
Jimmie Allred

Two candidates have filed to run for Pct. 4 commissioner. Their names will be listed in this order:

Doug Kopf
Mike Keene

Two candidates have filed to run for county treasurer. Their names will be listed in this order:

Dale McQueen
Derek Moore

Two candidates have filed to run for Justice of the Peace for Pct. 2. Their names will be listed in this order:

Paul Ivy
Mark Buchanan

Fannin County Court at Law Judge Charles Butler is running unopposed in the Republican primary.

Other incumbents running unopposed include April Gibbs, Fannin County District Clerk; Jenny Garner, Fannin County Clerk; Louise Goodwater, Justice of the Peact, Pct. 1; and Kenneth "Kenny" Karl, Justice of the Peace, Pct. 3.

The last day to register to vote is Monday, February 2, 2026.

The first day of early voting is Tuesday, February 17, 2026.*

*First business day after President's Day.

The last day to apply for a ballot by mail (received, not postmarked) is Friday, February 20, 2026. 

The last day of early voting is Friday, February 27, 2026.

The last day to receive a ballot by mail is Tuesday, March 3, 2026 (election day) at 7:00 p.m. if carrier envelope is not postmarked, or Wednesday, March 4, 2026 (next business day after election day) at 5:00 p.m. if carrier envelope is postmarked by 7:00 p.m. at the location of the election on election day (unless overseas or military voter deadlines apply).
