Bonham, Texas -- The Creative Arts Center in Bonham has lots of classes and special events planned for the new year.

Tickets and tables are on sale now for the second annual Taste of Chocolate Gala.  This event will be Saturday, February 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Complex. Guests can enjoy listening to live jazz music, featuring Brad Silwood on the saxophone, watch local artists paint and then bid on those creations in the live auction. 

Belle Rae’s will be serving up a buffet dinner. Guests will get two drink tickets and can choose from Neighbors Place Wines, beers, soft drinks or water.  There will also, of course, be a chocolate candy and dessert bar, including chocolate fountains.

The Creative Arts Center is also seeking vendors for their upcoming Sweets, Hearts and Sparkles on Saturday, Feb 7.  They are seeking vendors who make handcrafted items and/or sweet treats.  This will be part of the I Love Bonham shopping stroll organized by the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce.  Get more information on the center’s website.

Upcoming classes include watercolors, acrylics, fiber arts and more.  Brush and Brunch is an acrylic paint class that includes lunch on Jan 13. Embroidery Basics with Sandy Barber will be on Jan 14. Watercolors with Chris Cravens will be on Jan 15.  Garden Charms with Michelle Haynes will be on Jan 16.  Karen Sigler will lead a Resin Tray Workshop on Jan 17. The next Watercolors with Tatiana Murray is Jan 20.  A Cardinal Paint Party with Jessie Bryant from 3 Little Birds Paintings will be in the evening of Jan 20.  

Kids Crafts with Jaye Metellus is for kids ages 4-9 years old and is at 4 pm on Jan 20 and Jan 27. Youth Mixed Media with Sandy Barber is for youth ages 10 and up and will also be at 4 pm on Jan 20 & 27.   Tatiana Murray will also teach how to turn wool into Felting Flowers on Jan 22.

Jaye Metellus will host the next Kids Paint Party on Jan 24 from 10:30 am to noon and an adult paint party on Sunday, Jan 25 from 2-5 pm.  Oil Pastels with Tatiana Murray will be on Jan 27.  Wanda Oliver will teach about Gel Plate Printing on Jan 29.

A 6 week Belly Dance class will meet on Wednesdays at 6-7 pm starting Jan 21.  Weekly yoga classes are held at 6 pm on Tuesdays with Kristi Dunbar.  Weekly chair yoga classes meet on Wednesdays at 1 pm with Jenny Schero.  

Poetry at the Art Center with Michelle Haynes will be in the evening on Jan 22.  All are welcome to bring their crochet, knitting, embroidery or other fiber arts to the next Sip & Stitch on Jan 22.  The next meet up for the Junk Journal Club is Jan 28.  The next monthly Artist Get Together is on Jan 30 from 1-3 pm.

The Thursday Literary Society (book club) that meets on the second Thursday of each month at 2 pm will be meeting at the Creative Arts Center this year.  New members are welcome.  The February book is Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil by John Berendt.
