Hardy, Arkansas -- Brandon Suga started off the new year by catching this nice rainbow trout on the Spring River while fishing with guide Mark Crawford.
2025 was a little rough on the Spring River, particularly with early April flooding that wrecked the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission's Jim Hinkle Spring River State Fish Hatchery and set trout production back several months.
Here's hoping for a much better 2026 in northeast Arkansas and on the Spring.
Interestingly, 2026 has started with the river much on the low side, according to Mark Crawford.
