Bonham, Texas -- Michael Dale Carr, passed away peacefully in Bonham, TX on January 18, 2026. Michael was born on October 24, 1946 to Douglas and Minnie Carr in Anderson County. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home in Bonham.

Michael's early years in Palestine were filled with the joys of rural life, where he developed a passion for horses and the traditions of the cowboy. This love stayed with him throughout his life, and in his younger days, he was often found showing horses, a testament to his skill and dedication to the craft. His obituary picture is a self portrait that was painted during his cowboy days and it always held a special place in his heart.

Upon graduating from high school, Michael answered the call to serve his nation by enlisting in the United States Army. His service was marked by a deep sense of patriotism and commitment to the values he held dear. After his honorable discharge, Michael continued to embody the spirit of service in his civilian life. He embarked on a career as a respiratory therapist, a role in which he provided care and comfort to those in need. Michael was director of Fannin Community Food Pantry where he faithfully served the people of Fannin County.

Michael defined the word private and simple. He enjoyed a small town living in Bonham and you could count on one hand his friends. It was never the quantity that mattered, it was always the quality.

Michael is survived by son-in-law, Stevie Wilson, special friends Brenda and Michael Jeter, Jean Thornton, Victoria and sons, along with all the volunteers at Fannin Community Food Pantry.

On January 29, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. a Rosary will take place in honor of Michael at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Bonham. In lieu of flowers please plant a tree or consider donating to Fannin County Community Food Pantry, P.O Box 69 Bonham, TX 75418.
