Bonham, Texas -- Douglas Lee Ray Jr., known to so many as "DJ", was born on August 30, 1968, in Dallas, TX, and passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 57. He made his home in Bonham, where he built a life filled with laughter, friendship, and love. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.

DJ had a lighthearted spirit, contagious laugh, and a way of making people feel welcome the moment they were around him. He loved deeply - his family, his friends, and the simple joys that made life sweet. One of his greatest passions was racing his S-10, "The Purple Rat II,"something he looked forward to every weekend. The track was where he felt most alive, surrounded by the people and adrenaline he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife Tammy Ray, mother, Linda Childs, father, Douglas Ray, step-father, Terry Childs. He leaves behind children, Elizabeth Finley, Brandy Ray, Perry Ray, and step-son, Keith Jones. He is also survived by sister, Deanna Davis and brother in law Bill, step-siblings, Shannon Starks and family, Kim Childs and Jacob Childs. He is lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Julia Davis, Payton Davis, Kearstin Davis, Will Davis, grandchildren, Ellianna Finley and Atlas Donnelly, who knew him as Papa Race-car. He was preceded in death by sister, Deborah Ray, grandson, Maverick Donnelly, and step-son, Chris Jones.

He is also lovingly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and countless friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and humor.

To know DJ was to know kindness, laughter, and loyalty. He was a friend to many, a protector to those he loved, and a steady presence in the lives of his family. Though his absence leaves an ache that words can't fill, his memory lives on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love he gave so freely. His spirit will always be carried forward by those who were lucky enough to call him family and friend.

Please join the family on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the First Baptist Church of Bonham for a 2:00 p.m. visitation and a 3:00 p.m. service. Burial will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham.
