Dorchester, Texas -- “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Those are the words Becky Jane Keen Johnson heard on February 7, 2026, when her Heavenly Father came and told her to come home at the age of 90! After a long, battle with dementia, she was made well in the presence of Jesus!

Becky was born on May 30, 1935, to Loneta and Frank Keen in Telephone, Texas. She was the 2nd oldest of the 5 children that the Keen’s would have in their family. They lived in Telephone as well as some places in Oklahoma while her Dad worked in the oil fields. Then they returned to their land in Telephone for him to farm and ranch.  Becky and her siblings helped to hoe peanuts and pick cotton.

Becky loved basketball when in high school and lettered in basketball at Honey Grove High School.  She loved telling her great grandchildren about playing basketball and they loved hearing her tell those stories! With giggles, they would ask, “did she really play basketball?” and we were able to confirm her stories to them.

She met the love of her life when he came to pastor at her little church of Telephone, Texas and they were married when Becky was only 18 years old. She began a life of what she was called to do, be a pastor’s wife! She loved every element of that title. She worked alongside her husband, Harold, to minister to church members, visiting those in need, helping the shut-ins, teaching Sunday School classes, feeding anyone and everyone that would come to the parsonage, and supporting the ministry of each congregation they served with a smile on her face and a mission of love in her heart.

She and Harold served at Telephone Baptist, Collinsville Baptist, Velma Baptist-Velma, Oklahoma, College Heights Baptist-Tyler, Kessler Park Baptist- Dallas, Highland Park Baptist-Duncan, Oklahoma, First Baptist- Grove, Oklahoma, Vian Baptist, Vian, Oklahoma, Forest Avenue Baptist-Sherman, Texas, and Dorchester Baptist, Dorchester, Texas. They made lifelong friends in each congregation that have remained in the family’s lives to this day!

In addition to helping Harold serve, she was the homemaker and mother of two children, Harolyn and Tim. She loved sewing and made clothes for herself and Harolyn and later made Harolyn’s wedding dress as well as all the bridesmaids dresses for Tim’s wedding. She later made clothes for her grandkids. She loved cooking and was a great cook! Anytime, anyone went on a trip for vacation or if the grandchildren went on trips for school, they were given gallon baggies full of sausage balls and blitzes for the road! She also put herself through college and got her teaching degree, finishing while in Duncan, and was able to teach Homemaking in Comanche, Oklahoma. Becky would never turn down the opportunity to have some ice cream with those she loved!

After Harold passed away, Becky struggled a bit to just be a church member – she had been on staff for so many years beside her husband. However, she remained with the wonderful people at Dorchester Baptist (which is where Harold was pastoring when he passed away) and she continued to serve in that congregation.

During that time, she began to work and serve at First Baptist Church of Sherman, Texas as a financial secretary and she served there until her health required her to resign.

The family is so grateful for the love Becky received the last few months of her life at Carrus, Cedar Hollow, and especially to Southern Grace Hospice and our “family” at Forget Me Not Cottage in Denison.  When it became evident that keeping her at our home was no longer an option, God led us to this house and the people who helped her to leave this earthly home and enter her forever home! We love you all!!!

She is preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Loneta Keen; her brothers: Howard Keen and Tommy Keen; her dear sweet neighbor and friend: Berniece Vincent.

She is survived by her children and their families: Harolyn Rubarts, Chris Rubarts and Carrie and Lucas Solieau; Tim and Linda Johnson; Kraig and Heather Johnson; Nathan and Katy Johnson (Ty and Jolee); Ben and Ashley Johnson (Kasyn, Rhett and Kolt), and her dear friend, Sue Scott. She is also survived by a host of relatives and friends, who will miss her so much but are grateful for the years we were able to spend with her and the memories made!

We will celebrate Becky’s, Mom’s, Nana’s Homegoing to Heaven at 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Dorchester Baptist Church.   We would love you to join us. We will then travel to her hometown of Telephone, Texas where she will be laid to rest beside her sweet love, Harold Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 11, at Waldo Funeral Home, and they would love to hug your neck and hear how Becky impacted your life.

Proverbs 31: 27– 29  “27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband praises her as well: 29 Many daughters have done noble things, but you surpass them all.”

The family asks that any memorial gifts would go to Forest Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 106 W. Forest Ave, Sherman, TX 75090.
