Dodd City, Texas -- Anytime these two teams tangle, the fans are in for a thriller. In the first round of district competition, Dodd City scored five runs in the seventh inning to get the win. Tuesday night, it was Ector emerging victorious with a three-run win.

Ector got the scoring started with a run in the top of the first inning, but Dodd City pulled in front with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Ector scored two runs in the top of the second to tie the game, 3-3, and neither teams managed to cross home plate in the next two innings.

Ector broke the tie with two runs in the top of the fifth frame and the Eagles stretched their lead to 6-3 in the top of the sixth.

Dodd City scored one run in the bottom of the sixth but the rally fell short. Ector added one run in the top of the seventh to earn a 7-4 victory.

Heath Bingham went 2-for-4 to lead Ector at the plate and six Eagles contributed one hit apiece.

Gavin Shindler went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs to pace the Dodd City offense. Tyler Denney and Eastyn Weissert each had one hit.

Zach Hull got the start for Ector and worked the bump for five innings, giving up three hits and fanning 10 batters.

Jayce Adams and Kaleb Haggard came on in relief for the Eagles, with Adams getting the win.

The Dodd City Hornets (2-2) will travel to Savoy on Friday, March 20, for a 4:30 p.m. game.
