Honey Grove, Texas -- Roger Earl Joyce, born on November 15, 1957, in Bonham, Texas, passed away on March 18, 2026 at his home in Honey Grove. He was the son of Clyde Earl Joyce Jr. and Melba Jean Hulsey Joyce.

Roger married his beloved wife, Jackie Lynn Kay, on February 16, 1980, in Windom, Texas. He dedicated over 20 years of his life to the United States Postal Service. He was also a passionate farmer. He held several prominent positions including being a member of the Fannin County Farm Bureau Board, Honey Grove School Board, and the Dial Water Board. Additionally, he served as an EMT for many years in Honey Grove, providing invaluable support and care to those in need.

A man of many interests, Roger had a profound love for history, particularly presidential history. He was known for his warm smile and his genuine approach to life, treating everyone with respect and kindness. He cherished the time spent watching his grandchildren's sports activities, always supporting and encouraging them in their endeavors.

Roger is preceded in death by his father, CE Joyce Jr; son, Jarrett Joyce; brother-in-law, Sam Buzbee; father-in-law, Johnnie Kay; and mother-in-law, Garland Kay.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie Joyce; children, Alexis and husband John Flowers and Megan and husband John McCraw; grandchildren, Sonora Flowers, Deacon Flowers, Calum McCraw, Marley McCraw; mother, Melba Joyce; sister, Carolyn Buzbee; sisters-in-law, Julia and Husband Mark Gilbreath, and Jennifer and husband Rhett Fendley, brothers-in-law; John and wife Kim Kay and Joe and wife Deanna Kay, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Roger will be held at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Honey Grove on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Rev Rodney Stanford will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be: John McCraw, John Flowers, Deacon Flowers, Calum McCraw, Joe Kay, Greg Whirley, and Nathan Leverett. Honorary pallbearers will be: Mark Gilbreath and Tommy Merrell.
