Opening night: April 9

Sherman, Texas -- Only in its fifth year since Theater For Hope’s creation, it is living up to its mission statement--To provide a family friendly environment for the youth of our community to learn and develop their love and appreciation, as well as their skills and interests for the theater and the performing arts.

Theater For Hope’s spring play set for April 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18, Sarah, Plain and Tall, has brought many families acting and performing together to tell this endearing and heart-felt Newberry Award-winning book by Patricia MacLachlan and adapted into a play by Joseph Robinette.

Making her debut as an Assistant Director is Avery Williams, but she is no novice to theater and working with Theater For Hope Director Webster Crocker. Avery first began her theater experience when she was in kindergarten and took part in one of Mr. Crocker’s summer theater workshops as an Indian in the play, Peter Pan. She was “Hooked!”, no pun intended.

She joined then with her four other siblings. Since that time Avery and the rest of her family have played a big part with Mr. Crocker’s theater fulfilling various roles onstage, backstage, technical, directing, playwriting, singing, dancing, accompanying, designing advertising material, and much more!

Avery recently finished her Stars and Stripes project for American Heritage Girls by building a new light and sound cabinet, plus two costume dressing racks for Theater For Hope. For Sarah, Plain and Tall, Avery is joined by her sister Sarah as Stage Manager and her mother, Leandra accompanying on the guitar.

Sarah, Plain and Tall is sponsored by John and Debbie Markl and will perform at Hope on Houston 901 E. Houston Street in Sherman, TX Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m. with a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. for two weekends April 9—18 and features a different cast each weekend with 20 cast in the show.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online at theaterforhope.com.

In June, the next show for Theater For Hope is the musical Frozen and auditions will be April 27 and 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
