Trenton, Texas -- The Trenton Tigers took an early lead and pulled away for an 8-4 win over the Dodd City Hornets on Tuesday night.
Trenton had a 3-2 lead after the first inning before scoring two runs in the second inning and adding three more runs in the bottom of the third to stretch its advantage to 8-2.
Dodd City scored two runs in the top of the fifth frame, but the rally fell short, giving Trenton an 8-4 victory.
Two Hornets accounted for all five of Dodd City's hits.
Eastyn Weissert went 3-for-4, with one RBI and scored twice.
Gavin Shindler was 2-for-3, scored once and drove in two runs.
The Dodd City Hornets (5-3) will host Ector on Friday at noon for the Class 1A District championship.
On Tuesday, April 7, Dodd City will travel to Collinsville for a doubleheader starting at 4:30 p.m.
