Living History Days also slated for May 2 and June 6

Denison, Texas -- Frontier Village and Museum in Denison held the first of its Living History Days series on Saturday, April 4, 2026, giving visitors a chance to reflect on the life of settlers by touring some of the oldest homes and cabins in Grayson County while watching hands-on demonstrations by re-enactors like the village blacksmith firing up his forge and "Cousin Peggy" as she knits a scarf.

The concept behind Frontier Village and Museum began 60 years ago when Grayson County residents realized the need to preserve the way of life for early settlers in North Texas. This historic village has cabins that date back to the 1840s as well as the picturesque Bollock/Bass House that is said to have had the first glass windows in Grayson County.

The village has a traditional dogtrot cabin, a saddle shop, a newspaper office a smokehouse and even a jail wagon where inmates slept after a long day of repairing roads.

Frontier Village and Museum in Denison has additional Living History Days events scheduled for May 2 and June 6, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Frontier Village and Museum is located just off U.S. 75 at 111 RC Vaughan Road, Loy Lake Park in Denison. For more information, please call or text 903-463-2487 or email gcfrontiervillage@gmail.com.
