Dodd City High School will send 9 boys and 6 girls to compete in the UIL Region III Track Meet at Waco Midway High School Stadium this Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, 2026.  Preliminary rounds scheduled Friday with finals Saturday.

For the boys, district and area champion freshman Holden Atchley will compete in high jump.  Freshman Jordan Johnson will compete in the 400m Dash after a 4th place finish at the area meet. Junior Aiden Nietupski will compete in the 110m Hurdles after a 2nd place finish. Freshman Tyler Denney will compete in the 100m Dash after a 4th place finish.  The Hornets 4 x 100 (400m) Relay Team freshman Aaron Solano, sophomore Brody Lappin, and seniors Gavin Shindler and Aiden Helms will compete after a 3rd place finish.  The 4 x 200 (800m) Relay Team comprised of Denney, Shindler, Helms, and senior Cash Crossland after a 4th place finish.

For the Lady Hornets in the field events, sophomore  Gracyn Shindler will compete in Triple Jump after a first place finish at the area meet and will compete in Long Jump after a 3rd place finish.  Shindler and senior Cierra Johnson will compete in the 200m dash after finishing 1st and 2nd respectively at the area meet. Senior Cheyenne Johnson will compete in the 100m Dash after a 4th place finish.  District and Area Champion freshman Carla Medina will compete in the 1600m (mile) run. And junior Taylor Voss will compete in the 400m Dash after a 4th place finish.

The Lady Hornets 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay team comprised of Gracyn Shindler, junior Kayleigh McBrayer and sisters Cheyenne and Cierra Johnson are hungry for the opportunity to return to the state track and field championships in Austin.  They missed state by tenths of a second in the 4 x 100m regional championship last season finishing 3rd. This same group won first place last season in the 4 x 200m Relay at the regional meet and finished in 5th place at the state meet in Austin.
