The Ector Lady Eagles are taking another step deeper into the softball playoffs after Ector hammered out 15 hits in a five-run win over Munday in the area round.

The Lady Eagles had a 2-1 lead after the first inning and led 6-3 after three innings.

Ector was on top 11-5 after the fifth frame, but Munday scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to whittle the Lady Eagles' advantage down to 11-9 going into the top of the seventh inning.

Ector responded with six runs to go up 17-9.

Munday wasn't finished and rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh before the rally fell short and Ector posted a 17-12 victory.

Ector's Alana Mackey went 3-for-4 and scored three times.

Cheyenne Beaty was 2-for-4, scored twice and drove in four runs.

Aspen Harrison went 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Ella Laymance, Ainsely Greathouse and Kutter Watts all had two hits in five trips to the plate.

Audrey Arie and Adalynn Dederick both had one hit.

Arie struck out seven and went the distance to get the win for Ector.

The Ector Lady Eagles advance to the regional semifinals where they will take on the winner of Dodd City/Harrold.
