Farmersville, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets put a 20-1 shellacking on the Campbell Indians in the first game of their bi-district series, and this one was over in a hurry when Dodd City jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first inning.
Campbell scored the only run in the second inning, but the Dodd City bats got busy and drove in six runs in the third inning and three more runs in the fourth frame to earn a four-inning, 20-1 win to start the series.
Dodd City's Eastyn Weissert pitched a three-hitter and aided his own cause by going 2-for-4 and driving in four runs.
Gavin Shindler and Cash Crossland both had a pair of hits. Crossland had three RBIs.
Aaron Solano, Tyler Denney, Judd Shipman, Collin Baum and Brody Lappin all had one hit apiece.
Denney, Shipman and Lappin all finished with a pair of RBIs.
In addition to 11 hits, the Hornets worked the Campbell pitching staff for 10 walks.
Dodd City advances to take on Perrin-Whitt in the area round at a place and time yet to be determined.
