Bonham, Texas – The Creative Arts Center has many camps, classes and other activities planned for the summer for all ages.

Registration is open for Art Camp for kids ages 4-10 years old.  The camp will be June 22-26, from 9 am to 3 pm daily.  Each day will be filled with arts, crafts, music, games and fun.

Kidz Krew is the children’s theatre program which will be hosting auditions for their next production on June 4 from 4-6 pm.  Children ages 8 and up are encouraged to participate, even if they have no previous theatre experience.  The production will be Robin Hood as written by Lisa Avila and revised and edited by Kelly Bazan.  Practices will be during June and July.

Performances will be July 31, Aug 1, 2, 7, 8 & 9.
Kids Paint Parties are set for May 30 and June 27 from 10:30 am to noon. Valerie Pollock will be teaching Beginning Beading for ages 12-17 on June 30 and Beginning Crochet for ages 7-17 on Jun 9, 11, 16 & 18.

The center also offers many classes for adults. Paint and Plant class with Hilary Holderer will be held on May 16 from 11 am to 2 pm.  Oil Painting with Dean Todd will be on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, June 20 from 10 am to noon.  Two watercolor classes will be offered on May 28, including a class from 10 am to noon with Tatiana Murray and from 1-3 pm with Chris Cravens. Jessie Bryant is hosting a Butterfly Paint Party from 6-8:30 pm on Tuesday, May 26.

On Thursday, May 21, Sip & Stitch will be held from 6-8 pm and Poetry at the Art Center will be from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.  Mixed Media and Music will be on Friday, May 22 from 1-3 pm.  Junk Journal Club will meet on May 27 from 2-4 pm and May 30 from 10 am to noon.  Artist Trading Card meet up will also be on May 30 from 10 am to noon.

Learn to use Gel Plates with Wanda Oliver on June 12 from 10 am to 4 pm.  Brush & Brunch will be on Tuesday, June 2 from 11 am to 3 pm. The next Artist Get Together is set for May 29 from 1-3 pm.

A book club meets on the second Thursday of each month at 2 pm. Mahjong at the art center is held on the first Thursday of each month from 6-8 pm and beginners are welcome.

The center hosts weekly yoga classes on Tuesdays at 6 pm and chair yoga on Wednesdays at 1 pm.

The center hosts a Farmers Market every other Saturday from April through October.  Upcoming market days include May 16 & 30.  The market runs from 9 am to 1 pm and is usually outside in the parking lot.  In case of inclement weather, the market often moves inside.

The center hosts new art shows each month.  The current exhibit features 47 paintings completed during the En Plein Air Contest, depicting various buildings and scenes from around the town.  The next call for art is for the June art show.  Artwork is due June 4.  The theme is Rainbow and a special exhibit celebrating the 25th anniversary of the art center will be featured in the East Gallery.  The opening reception will be on Friday, June 5 from 5-7 pm.  Admission is always free and the current exhibit can be viewed anytime during normal business hours.
