Gene proudly served his country in the military for three years, spending much of his service stationed in El Paso, Texas. His time in the military reflected the sense of duty and commitment that would continue throughout his life.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, George Fox and Dorothy Fullerton, and by one sister, Diane Egeno.
In the 1970s, Gene relocated to Texas through his work with Mobil Oil, where he devoted 32 years of service during his career. Seeking the peace and simplicity of country living, he made his home in Leonard, Texas.
Committed to helping his community, Gene volunteered with the Texas Emergency Medical Service as an Emergency Care Attendant and worked to help Leonard establish ambulance service for the community. He also faithfully served on the Leonard ISD School Board, supporting local education and the future of the town he loved.
After retiring from Mobil Oil, Gene worked for Hewlett Packard for nine years. In his later years, following health challenges, Gene resided at Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home, where he spent the last five and a half years of his life.
