Frontier Village & Museum will host its Frontier Experience Summer Camp across two sessions in July, welcoming children ages 8 to 12 for a three day glimpse into pioneer life. Phones, tablets, and gadgets are left at the door. In their place: churns, seeds, needles, and fire.
"It's a connection to a time when nature and life skills were part of everyday life. We love to see the campers take these skills home and use them to build confidence and self-reliance" the museum says of the program — and the activities on offer make a compelling case. Campers will dress in period-appropriate clothing and spend their mornings learning skills that sustained families on the frontier, from building fires and tending gardens to sewing and baking apple pie entirely from scratch.
The second session offers a fresh slate of experiences, including blacksmithing, square dancing, homemade ice cream, quilting, campfire cornbread, and dominoes — designed so that returning campers from the first session encounter entirely new activities.

At $100 per child — or $85 for museum members — the camp offers a rare combination of hands-on learning, screen-free creativity, and genuine historical immersion. Spots are limited and expected to fill quickly.
Families can register and find more information at frontiervillagemuseum.org/summercamp, or by calling or texting (903) 463-2487, or emailing info@frontiervillagemuseum.org.
