Carrollton, Texas -- Filmmaker Taylor Sheridan, creator of Yellowstone and Tulsa King, has another series in the works and former Bonham mayor Sue Smith, along with her daughter-in-law Jenn Smith, may have minor roles as extras.
Sue and Jenn were in Carrollton recently where Sheridan's newest project, Frisco King, was being filmed.
A 12-hour day on the set, plus travel before and after, has given Sue a new appreciation for the film industry.
"Both men and women were working lights, cameras, props and technical support," observed Sue, "with lots of cables running everywhere and various filters, boxes for height adjustments, supports for cameras for smooth operation, a whole Beans and Bubbles coffee shop/store taken over, cars to fill the parking lot and even a dog!"

The day started with a good breakfast and then a check-in with costuming, followed by hair and makeup fixes.
"Meanwhile, Jenn was one of the 20 car drivers and she got to drive to the B&B parking lot, and after a wait, was chosen to go inside the set for a scene," Sue explains. "While she was inside, the rest of us sat around and wondered what was going on. After some time, another group of extras, including me, was chosen to go sit on the patio. We just sat around and whispered, and then silently waited during the 'rolling, background and cut' calls. We trooped back to the waiting area, and eventually were given a lunch break. Although fed in the same area, the extras went through one line while the cast and crew went through another line with more choices."
Back at the waiting area, again another group was picked to be in a scene.
"I was in this one, too," Sue continues. "There were three young girls, a young 'couple', and an older 'couple' (yea, that’s me). We (the older couple) sat at a table diagonally across from where Samuel L. Jackson and another actor had a scene. The camera pointed at them was actually pointed at us too. After several takes and rehearsals (including the dog who ran in for a treat), we (the older couple) sat and 'drank' coffee and 'ate' croissants and 'talked'. We even were directly addressed by “Sam” as he left the scene swearing - he apologized. One of the directors came over to us and showed a still shot of us drinking coffee and said it was the opening shot. Who knows if it will make the final scene, but it was cool to see!"
"In my scene, I was in a corner booth with my 'husband' and another couple," Jenn chimes in. "Samuel L Jackson walks in the door immediately to our right and goes to sit with another character on the other side of the shop. Then three young girls came in -- I was told they had just turned 18 -- wearing very short skirts and our 'husbands' were told to gawk at them. Then the 'wives' had to react to that."
"It will be fun to see the final show and try to catch our brief appearances," Sue adds.
"It was a fun day!" exclaimed Jenn, "and Samuel L. Jackson was super nice. It was fun to watch him work."
Paramount+ has not announced an official release date for Frisco King, but the series is expected to premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.
