Honey Grove, Texas -- Francis Earl Moran, 74, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, at home on his ranch.
Francis was born on March 6, 1952, to Thomas Lee and Marie Delmato Moran in Honey Grove, Texas.
He married the love of his life Sarah June Moss on December 17, 1976, and wanted desperately to live long enough to see their 50th wedding anniversary.
Francis worked in the manufactured housing industry for 30 years and was instrumental in bringing the Clayton Homes manufacturing plant to Bonham, Texas. He designed and built the facility, which opened on May 5, 1995, and ran its operations for many years until his health caused him to retire. He was extremely fortunate to receive a double lung transplant in 2009 and began his new job of managing his health. With many ups and downs, he was able to make it into the top percentile of post-op longevity. During his retirement years Francis focused his energy on his health, real estate investing, and making improvements to his ranch and homes.
He loved the game of golf and spent many days on the course, and was an active member of several clubs until his shoulders caused him to unfortunately store his left-handed clubs. Being outdoors was in his nature; he loved hunting and fishing, and most days he wanted nothing more than to ride the trails on his beloved ranch. He loved music and had an uncanny way of knowing exactly where he was when he first heard a song. He enjoyed entertaining, and the parties, deer camps, and cookouts he hosted were always filled with love and laughter.
Those who knew him were aware of how opinionated he was, but those opinions were layered with strategy and sometimes amplified by scotch. The conversations surrounding those opinions were legendary and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lee and Marie Moran, brother Glenn Moran, sister Lynn Marie Moran, and daughter Julie Elizabeth Moran.
Survivors include wife, Sarah Moran, son James Clay Moran, grandson Grayson Symanik, granddaughter Vivian Symanik, sister-in-law Janet Kilgore, brother-in-law Jonathan Moss, and wife Pam, brother-in-law Aubrey Griffin, brother-in-law James Moss, and wife Sara Lee, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of very dear friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Thump Witcher, Alton Hainline, Russ Chappell, Wade Guinn, Blake Jones, Johnny Moss, and Jeremy Moss.
Funeral services for Francis Moran will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at McKenzie United Methodist Church in Honey Grove with Rev. Dr. Keri Lynn Lucas officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Vineyard Grove Cemetery.
