Bonham, Texas -- Mary Kay Ashley Wilson, 88, took her final journey on May 14, 2026, leaving this world likely wondering whether heaven has good shopping, decent restaurants, and proper movie theaters. Born on August 14, 1937, Mary Kay lived life with curiosity, faith, humor, and a love for people.

A proud advocate of all things Kiwanis, Mary Kay never met a travel dream, a good meal, or a shopping opportunity she didn’t appreciate. She believed life was meant to be experienced fully — preferably with good food, interesting company, and maybe a little retail therapy along the way.

Mary Kay spent many years working with the State Welfare Department, where she devoted herself to helping others, especially children and families in need. She cared deeply about her hometown of Bonham, Texas, and was known for having a generous heart, strong opinions, and a willingness to show up for the people she loved.

Her Christian faith remained an important part of her life, and she greatly enjoyed attending church and hearing her friend Michael Evans preach. She loved movies, the arts, conversations with friends, and discovering new places to eat wherever the road happened to take her.

Mary Kay is survived by her uncle, Bob Ashley, along with many cousins and friends who would probably agree that she was one of a kind and impossible to forget.

A memorial service celebrating Mary Kay’s colorful and spirited life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church Windom 207 2nd Street, Windom, Texas 75492.

In honor of Mary Kay, guests are encouraged to share stories, laughter, good food, and maybe even a little shopping afterward — because she certainly would have approved.
