Leonard, Texas -- Linda Sue Carter, of Leonard, Texas, passed away on May 28, 2026, at the age of 81. She was born on July 16, 1944, to parents James and Linner Kelsey in Comanche County, Texas.

Sue married Donald Jene Carter on June 14, 1964, in Abilene, Texas. They celebrated 36 years of marriage.

Sue enjoyed listening to and going to bluegrass festivals. She also loved watching and going to NASCAR races with her friends and family. She was a competitive card player around her friends and family. Her loved ones will remember and cherish all the Christmas ornaments she would lovingly paint.

Sue will be remembered by her sons, Sonny Carter of Leonard, Texas, and Rick Carter and wife, Allie, of Sunnyvale, Texas; grandchildren, Hope, Faith, Gracelyn, and Hudson; great-grandchildren, Jaxson; and brother, Garland Kelsey of Beebe, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jene Carter; parents, James and Linner Kelsey; brothers, Earnest Kelsey, WB Kelsey, and Earl Kelsey; sisters, Barbara LeJeune, Joyce Hauilhan, Margaret Ziegler, Samantha Phillips, and Sara Gerdes.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 1, 2026, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 701 North Cedar Street, Leonard, Texas 75452. A graveside service will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Grove Hill Cemetery in Leonard, Texas.

Pallbearers for Sue’s service are Jeri Carter, Hudson Carter, Casey Carter, Ray Thorn, Scott DeWoody, and Luke McCarley.
