Bonham, Texas -- Leslie Dwain Bassham, of Savoy, Texas, passed away at home on June 1, 2026, at the age of 67.

Leslie was born on June 14, 1958, in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Savoy High School in 1977 and later earned his associate degree. On December 26, 1981, he married the love of his life, Ginger Suzanne Smith, in a candlelight chapel ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.

Leslie dedicated 45 years of service as a machinist at Raytheon, where he was affectionately known by his coworkers as “Bubba.” He was respected for his strong work ethic, unwavering dedication, and commitment to excellence throughout his career. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Savoy and was known throughout his community as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

A devoted husband, father, brother, friend, and proud Pappaw; Leslie found great joy in farming, ranching, raising cattle, and spending time with those he loved. His generous heart, kind spirit, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Ginger Bassham of Savoy; son, Chris Bassham and fiancée Miranda Barnett of Savoy; daughter, Jennifer Blackburn and husband Brad of Weatherford; brother, Gary Bassham and wife Penny of Savoy; father-in-law, Gary Smith; brother-in-law, Brad Smith and wife Lisa; and grandchildren, Brooklyn Barnett, Brinley Blackburn, and Brody Blackburn.

Leslie was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Amy Meshell Bassham (May 16, 1978 – April 2, 1989); his father, Leslie Bassham; and his brother, Alan Bassham.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Bassham, Brad Blackburn, Gary Bassham, David Hamm, Ryan Hamm, Brody Blackburn, Larry Carlson, and Brad Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham, with Bro. Kevin Towery officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Carson Cemetery in Ector, Texas.

Leslie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
