As families gather to celebrate the dad in their lives this weekend, Grayson CMS encourages community members to join the June walk and invest in their health together.
The June walk will feature a brief health presentation, “Heart Health: The Best Gift is More Time Together,” by Dr. Latham.

Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death among men. During the presentation, Dr. Latham will discuss major risk factors for heart disease and share practical steps individuals can take to improve their heart health. Simple lifestyle changes such as walking for 30 minutes each day can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and improve overall well-being.
The health talk will last approximately 5-10 minutes and the walk will follow.
Held on the third Saturday of every month, this chapter’s Walk with a Doc program encourages participants to enjoy physical activity, learn about important health topics, and connect with others in the community. See the Grayson CMS Walk with a Doc flyer for more information.
Walk with a Doc is a nonprofit organization founded in 2005 by cardiologist David Sabgir, MD, in Columbus, Ohio. Originally created to help patients become more physically active, the program has grown into an international movement that promotes health through exercise, education, social connection, and time spent outdoors. Walk with a Doc Texas chapters are supported by the Texas Medical Association (TMA).
The Grayson CMS’s Walk with a Doc program is led by volunteer physicians the society elects annually. Current Grayson CMS Walk with a Doc physician leaders include:
• Dr. Latham;
• Kruti Patel, DO, a Sherman gastroenterologist; and
• Jeannine Hatt, MD, a retired Denison pediatrician.
“If people can’t make it in June, we invite them to attend a future walk and bring a family member, friend, or neighbor,” said Dr. Latham. “Our goal is to inspire healthier lifestyles through movement, education, and conversation.”
Grayson CMS represents over 200 physicians. It is one of TMA’s 110 component county medical societies from around the state. TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 60,000 physician and medical student members. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
