Sherman, Texas -- Jimmy Lowell Daffern, Sr., of Sherman, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly. He was 85 years old.

Jim was born on January 31, 1941, in DeKalb, Texas, to the late Charlie Daffern and Jewel Spinks Daffern. A man of strong work ethic and dedication, Jim spent over 40 years working for Anderson Clayton Foods. He was also a deeply valued and highly active member of the Elks Lodge, where he dedicated much of his time to community leadership. His leadership was recognized through numerous roles, serving as a Past Exalted Ruler for 3 years, a State Vice President, a District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, and a Past District Leader.

Beyond his work and civic achievements, Jim’s true legacy is the incredible warmth, humor, and love he brought to his family. He was a loving, supportive, and devoted father, stepfather, and grandfather. He was a wonderful husband to his wife, Mary (Jeanie). Jim was deeply adored, a doting "Papa" and father figure to his granddaughter, Tesla. His quick wit and wonderful sense of humor brought endless joy and laughter to their household. Jim's presence brought immense comfort to his family, and his absence leaves a void that will be profoundly felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Charlie Daffern; brother, Lynn Daffern; sister, Carolyn Jean Chandler; son, Danny Daffern; and stepson, Travis Peterson.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary (Jeanie) Daffern; son, Jimmy Lowell Daffern, Jr. (wife Angela, granddaughter Julie Silva); daughter, Robin Porter (husband Todd and grandsons, Kristoffer Lemons and Jordan Smith); stepdaughter, Bobbi Jo Elvington (husband Johnny and grandson Dillon Lalonde); granddaughter, Tesla Bockman (husband Colby); and sister, Gayle Knutson. They, along with his extended family, will forever carry his love and funny memories in their hearts.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Thursday, June 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home, located at 619 N. Travis Street, Sherman, Texas.
