Lewisville, Texas -- As we enter the hottest months of the year, Upper Trinity Regional Water District (Upper Trinity) is asking residents across its service area to dial back their water use with its Give a Drip campaign. Without cutting outdoor water use, residents of Denton and Collin counties will be "Drip Outta Luck" when it comes to having water where it counts the most. Residents should follow local watering rules that limit outdoor watering to no more than two days per week or less and not between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Neighbors are encouraged to Give A Drip at WaterLessYall.com by pledging to follow these watering rules.

Outdoor irrigation accounts for more than half of residential water consumption in North Texas, much of which is wasted. By "Giving a Drip," residents help ensure there is enough water to meet the region's needs now and in the future, while keeping lakes full and lowering water bills. Those who take the "Give A Drip" pledge can receive free swag and drawings for prizes. Over the last several years, hundreds of North Texans have shown their commitment to conservation in this way.

"By Giving A Drip, residents in the communities we serve can help protect one of our most valuable resources," said Jason Pierce, Upper Trinity's Director of Government Affairs and Communications.

In addition, Upper Trinity is offering free irrigation evaluations and classes on key yard-related topics that can help residents save water and money. Interested qualifying residents can get a free sprinkler checkup to make sure that their system is working properly – sign up at waterlessyall.com.

This spring and summer, residents can also attend in-person, on-location classes with tips and tricks on irrigation, lawn care and selecting native plants. Class signups are available on Upper Trinity's website, with the first set held in Providence Village, Lantana and Corinth. Neighbors can find additional informational how-to tips, videos and resources on various outdoor topics at waterlessyall.com.

This year's Give A Drip campaign is a continuation of Upper Trinity's Water Less Y'all campaign, which launched in 2022 to inform residents across its service area about the urgent need to cut outdoor water use during the high-demand summer months. The campaign will run through September and is part of a broader effort to help the region adapt to harsh Texas summers and growth in the region.
