Robert Kennedy, a Busch Mountain Fishing Guide, displays a nice 30-inch walleye he caught recently in the Beaver tailwater in Northwest Arkansas.

Austin Kennedy, Robert’s brother, sent the photo and says that walleye are still being caught this week in the tailwater, but “they require a little patience. A slow presentation with jigged soft plastics has been the most consistent pattern. Focus on water depths of 10-20 feet and work your bait deliberately.”

The good news is that walleye are being reported as active in several of the state’s bigger lakes as well. Lake Ouachita has a great walleye bite going on, according to the guides at Mountain Harbor Marina and Resort.

And Bull Shoals Lake is seeing fair to good walleye fishing thanks to the rising water from passing storms; Bull Shoals is well over normal pool now.
