Goshen, Arkansas -- Guide Austin Kennedy (479-244-0039) says the Army Corps of Engineers generators are back online, “and that’s great news for the Beaver Tailwaters.” Water temperatures have dropped back into the upper 40s to low 50s, just in time for the dog days of summer. The cooler water has really improved conditions, and the trout bite has been picking up.

Most trout are being caught between Houseman Access and the U.S. Highway 62 Bridge. Pautzke Fire Bait fished on light terminal tackle has been one of the top producers. If you prefer throwing artificial baits, quarter-ounce spoons and Rooster Tails are also putting some quality fish in the net.

Walleye are still being caught, but they require a little patience. A slow presentation with jigged soft plastics has been the most consistent pattern. Focus on water depths of 10-20 feet and work your bait deliberately.
“If you’re looking to learn more, be sure to visit the ‘Resources’ section of our new website,

“We’re glad to see the river cooled back down. It should make for some excellent fishing as we move deeper into summer. We hope you get the opportunity to get out on the water and catch a few fish. Tight lines!”
