Savoy, Texas -- Joshua "Josh" Shane Stephens, known to many as "Chavez," passed away on June 27, 2026, in Bonham, Texas. Josh was born on February 23, 1989, the son of Mark Stephens and Sharon Monks.
Josh lived life on his own terms and found his greatest joy in the people he loved. His children were the center of his world, and some of his favorite memories were made taking them fishing, camping, and simply enjoying time together. Whether he was cooking his famous fajitas, sitting around a campfire, spending the day at his favorite spot on the river watching the sunset, or playing video games with family and friends, Josh treasured every moment spent with those closest to him.
He had a creative spirit and appreciated tattoos and art as a form of self-expression. He loved chasing storms, building campfires, and had a mischievous side that everyone who knew him will remember—he never passed up the chance to blow something up for fun. Josh was the kind of person who would show up without being asked, always willing to lend a hand or be there for anyone in need. His loyalty and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone, fortunate enough to know him.
Josh also took great pride in working alongside his dad at The Trailer Guys in Trenton. The time they spent working together was something he truly cherished.
Josh is survived by his father and bonus mom, Mark and Day Stephens; his mother and bonus dad, Sharon and Rusty Monks; his three sons, Sean, Braydon, and Kaiden Stephens; his daughter, Alexis Stephens; his siblings, Jayson and Bailey Stephens, Dathan Wiley, Shani Agent, Aislynn Monks, and Adrian Monks; his grandparents, Nita Culberson and Jim Kennedy; his aunts and uncles, Rhonda Ivins, Jimmy Kennedy, Billy Kennedy, Michael and Sonja Stephens, Debbie Endsly, Michelle Rogers, and Renee Payne; his nieces and nephews, Beau Stephens, Evelyn Agent, Aslan Wiley, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael and Peggy Stephens and Bruce Rogers; his uncle, Lee Ivins; and his cousin, Kiley Dunfee.
Josh's memory will live on through the stories shared around campfires, sunsets by the river, and the love he poured into his children, family, and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
