Grayson County, Texas -- Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the Grayson County Historical Society will open the doors at 6:15 p.m. We feel very honored to have Heather Boykin as our guest speaker. The topic we have asked Heather to present is some of the life stories of Sophia Porter, a North Texas pioneer known for her resilience and four marriages who was known as Paul Revere of the Confederacy. Sophia was born in 1815 and died in 1897.
Heather Boykin, has dabbled in women's and children's social history and 19th century material culture for over 25 years. In that time she has made a study of daily life including textile arts, historic dress, homemaking, and early education. She served as curator at Chestnut Square Historic Village in McKinney for three years and camp director for Prairie Adventure Camp for nine years.

Boykin has served on the board of directors for Grayson County Frontier Village and the C.S. Roberts House in Sherman. She currently teaches K-5 Gifted and Enrichment students and her hobbies include quilting, dressmaking, historic preservation, writing, and she is a strong children's literacy advocate.
The Society meets the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in the Judge R.C. Vaughan Community Room of the museum at Grayson County Frontier Village at Loy Lake. The Park is located midway between Sherman and Denison off Hwy. 75, Exit 67. Meetings are open to members and their guests. Members, Friends and Neighbors are welcome to attend.
